Students in Pre-K read the story "Pumpkin Jack" and learned about the life cycle of a pumpkin. Throughout the story, the students noticed the changes the pumpkin went through as it rotted and how seedlings emerged from it in the spring.
Classes teamed up to create their own Pumpkin Jack Science and STEM activity. They took a large plastic container, added soil and water (moisture), and then placed a pumpkin in the container and sealed the cover with tape. They are going to let Mother Nature do her thing and are excited to watch the pumpkins decompose in front of their eyes. Once the pumpkin disintegrates they will open the container and cover the remains and then hopefully watch as a seedling emerges!

Hutchins’ Hall C team sure is sweet!

Mrs. Hopper’s clinical rotation class has been learning about wound care in preparation for their clinical rotation. Students performed proper wound care on their "patient” and then finished off with a fun day by making fake wounds. #CTE

Thursdays are for the 'Birds! Mrs. Wenglar's and Mrs. Hlavaty's students at ECHS spent Thursday mornings in October completing Halloween STEM challenges with the Ricebirds. They had a blast making pumpkin catapults, pumpkin towers, oozing Jack-o-lanterns and pumpkin rafts together. Mrs. Zahn’s Advanced Floral Design students have been busy crafting stunning fall and Halloween arrangements! But, that's not all - they're also mastering the art of crunching the numbers and calculating those design and retail costs like pros. #CTE

🎃👻 Halloween is just around the corner, and we want to make sure everyone has a safe and spooktacular evening! 🌙✨ Here are some important safety tips to keep in mind:
1. Plan your route: Before heading out for trick-or-treating, map out a safe and well-lit route in familiar neighborhoods. Stick to areas with sidewalks and crosswalks to ensure everyone stays safe.
2. Be visible: Wear bright or reflective clothing, add reflective tape to costumes, or carry glow sticks or flashlights. This will help drivers and others see you in the dark.
3. Stay in groups: Trick-or-treat with friends or family members and never go alone. There's safety in numbers, and it's more fun to share the Halloween excitement together!
4. Look both ways: Always remember to look both ways before crossing the street, even if you're in a designated crosswalk. Drivers may not always see you, so stay alert and cautious.
5. Check treats: When you get home, make sure to inspect all treats before eating them. Discard any unwrapped or suspicious-looking items. Safety first!
6. Be cautious with costumes: Choose costumes that are flame-resistant and avoid masks that obstruct vision. Opt for face paint or makeup instead. Comfortable shoes are a must for a night of walking!
7. Respect boundaries: Only visit houses with porch lights on and respect any "no trick-or-treating" signs. Remember, not everyone celebrates Halloween, and it's important to be considerate.
8. Trust your instincts: If something feels off or unsafe, trust your gut and remove yourself from the situation. Your safety is the top priority.
🌟 Let's make this Halloween a memorable and safe one for everyone! Share these tips with your friends and family to ensure a night filled with treats, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Happy Halloween! 🎃👻
