Interact Club Participate in the Texas Coastal Clean Up
Mrs. Farrar (HS) and Mrs. Barker (MS), sponsors of the Interact Club, accompanied approximately 17 students to participate in the Texas Coastal Clean Up, organized by the Texas General Land Office. This event spanned the entire state, and our group participated in the cleanup at Matagorda.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Martin and Blanca Medina from Medina Body Shop for generously providing the UTV without hesitation for Mrs. Barker to use to get around with a broken foot. Also, thanks to Texas Coast Yard Maintenance for their donation of coolers filled with water, Gatorade, chips, bread, and cold cuts for our members.

El Campo had two students compete on Saturday, April 26, in Baytown at the East Region Spring Games in Track and Field. Timothy Armstrong received Gold in the shot put and Silver in the 100m dash. Hannah Weathers received Bronze in the softball throw and Gold in the 100m dash. Way to go, Birds!

Ricebird Seniors had a great time at Wharton County Government Day. They explored the Courthouse Annex, where they attended a session in the Commissioners Court, gained insights into elections, and listened to presentations from the AgriLife Extension department. Additionally, they toured both the county jail and courthouse, as well as learned about the operations of our emergency management department.
Thank you to all who make this day possible!

HOSA members embarked on a trip to Texas A&M. One group of 40 students explored the clinical simulation labs utilized by nursing, medical, and EMT students. They had the opportunity to view mock surgical rooms, clinical exam areas, emergency rooms, nurseries, and delivery rooms. The highlight for the students was a remarkable mannequin capable of simulating childbirth!
Meanwhile, another group of 20 students participated in a presentation by the veterinary school, followed by a tour of the facility and clinical area. The two groups reconvened for lunch and engaged in a panel discussion featuring a fourth-year medical student, two first-year medical students, and a veterinary student, all hailing from rural communities like El Campo. Additionally, students were introduced to a member of the admissions team who provided valuable insights on various pathways to college acceptance.
