Kinder studied light energy in science. Did you know light is the only energy we can see? Here's Mrs. Treme's class showing off the suncatchers they made in the science lab. They also earned the incentive of pajama day by following their social contract. How awesome!

The National Association of School Psychologists has designated November 6–10, 2023, to be National School Psychology Week. School psychologists partner with families, teachers, school administrators, and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community. They apply expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help children and youth succeed socially, behaviorally, emotionally, and academically. They are also important members of school safety and crisis teams. As stated by Dr. Andrea Clyne, President of the NASP, “School psychologists bring a rich and unique set of skills to their school communities. They are champions for children, families, and schools, working hard to apply their knowledge about mental health, learning, equity, and systems to address challenges that thwart progress.” Thank you to our School Psychologists, Annie Cain, Shannon Fuechec, Bailey Bustamante, and Amy Bailey for all you do for El Campo ISD!

🎉Help us celebrate our Ricebird & Ladybird Coaches! Today is officially Texas High School Coaches Day across the state of Texas. The state legislature of Texas has made November 3rd Texas High School Coaches Day in appreciation for what coaches do for kids and communities all across the state. Here in El Campo, we have a group of outstanding coaches who are dedicated to serving the students of El Campo ISD in a variety of ways. The job of a coach extends well beyond normal business hours and beyond the wins and losses of the games. Today we thank our coaches for the difference they make in the lives of students, and the manner in which they represent our district and community throughout the year! Thank you, coaches!

5th graders at Northside enjoyed trick or treating in their math classrooms on Halloween! They solved problems involving order of operations, then got to draw a "trick" or "treat" card. A treat card earned them a prize, while a trick card made them reach into some spooky bags of zombie teeth, brains, and more!

Keith Murphy, a local El Campo resident and school supporter, believes that fellow El Camponians should support students in their academic efforts and encourage them to pursue higher education. Because of this goal, he worked with El Campo High School to award 20- $100 scholarships to students who have performed at the top of their class and students who have shown the most growth from their freshman year of high school to their sophomore year of high school. Keith, a graduate of Baytown's Sterling High School attended college at Texas A&M University majoring in Engineering. Through the years he worked in the oil and gas industry and started his own company at one point of his career. Moving to El Campo to be close to his wife's family, he decided he wanted to encourage students in his local community. Aware of the hard work it takes to be successful in college, he encouraged the students at ECHS to take advantage of the opportunities afforded to them during school and encouraged them to take advanced level mathematics. Keith believes that students deserve to be recognized for their academic achievements just as much if not more than for their athletic achievements. Small tokens of recognition let the students know that their efforts are seen and encourages them to keep striving for more. Scholarship recipients are Cash Escamilla, William Romero-Salazar, Iladia Gibbs, Charlise Pruett-Scutt, Zoe Schulze, Dylan Johnson, Cadence Dornak, Back row: Lance Brooks, Landon Brooks, Michael Roddy, Scholarship Donor: Keith Murphy, Bryan Cisneros, Ja'Kwuan Hudlin, Brooke Bacak, Jillian Croix, Adeline Hundl, Khaki Erwin, and Arianna Williams. Not pictured: Matthew Gonzalez, Halayna Garcia, and Yesenia Gutierrez.
