The El Campo Literacy Advocates of Rotary recently visited all the kindergarten classes, where each student was gifted a copy of Richard Scarry's "Best Word Book Ever". These books will be used throughout the school year to help students practice reading and writing. At the end of the year, each student will be able to take their book home to keep. The excitement was contagious, and all the students were thrilled to receive this special gift!

Last week we shared some cosmetology fun with foam mannequins and plastic jugs where students had to get creative with behind-the-scenes movie work and find ways to achieve balance in their designs. Well, here are the winners!

Mrs. Daniel's 8th grade Principles of Arts, Audio/Video Technology and Communications class completed their unit on CAD software (Computer Aided Design) by designing interactive 3D homes from 2D floor plan drawings. The students used Google SketchUp to create the 3D model as well as decorate the interior and exterior of the homes.

Officer Rivera joined the students at recess in drawing with chalk outside! The students absolutely love her! She always greets them with a smile as they enter the building in the morning and the lunch room!

Ms. Wright’s class practiced social skills by distributing popcorn to the awesome Northside staff!

The Ricebird Band & Color Guard performed at Area Contest and represented El Campo so well! "We are very proud of the job our kids did, and although we would have liked a different result, our band grew so much this year. With the difference from last year to now being ridiculously noticeable, I'm encouraged by the thought of what we will become a year from now!" said Band Director Mr. Partida. 5th graders at Northside had a fun trick-or-treating experience in their math classes on Halloween. If they solved their order of operations problems with the correct strategies, they got to pull a "trick" or "treat" card. If they pulled "treat", they got a fun treat. If they pulled a "trick", they had to put their hand in a mystery bag of eyeballs, brains, witch warts, mummy skin, and more!
