In 8th grade science, Ms. Campbell's students used their engineering skills to build bridges using cups, tape, and paper. The goal was to be able to hold a minimum of 5 washers. They excelled and were able to construct bridges that held the whole container of washers.








Ricebird Football thanked Ricebird Sports Medicine trainers and student trainers at the first pep rally of the 2024 season. The players acknowledged the trainers' hard work in the heat and the long hours they spend with the team.

Ms. Kacer's Medical Terminology class practiced location terms on a body in an anatomical position with sidewalk chalk! #CTE










At Hutchins, Mrs. Weathers and Mrs. Shumbera's classes learned about oven safety and made cookies to deliver around campus. The students also got to enjoy the cookies! These students went above and beyond as Ricebirds at Northside Elementary during their first week back to school by demonstrating leadership and integrity! Each student showed leadership by being kind to others, following directions, and showing respect to their teachers and the staff at the school. Ms. Nafegar’s 2nd grade class had a special visit from “Zero the Hero”. Students learned what happens when you add, subtract, multiply and divide with zero!


On August 28, 2024, El Campo ISD's Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing at 5:45 pm. The Regular Meeting will follow at 6:00 pm. Both meetings will be at the Administration Building, 700 W. Norris, El Campo, TX.

The Ricebirds kick off their football season against the Wharton Tigers at home this Friday, August 30th.
Pre-sale tickets for students are $4 and $6 for adults. You can buy pre-sale tickets at any campus or the athletic office Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and on Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Tickets will be $8 per person cash only at the gate.

At Northside, students have began their Capturing Kids’ Hearts character lessons. This month focuses on empathy. Take a look at some of our 5th grade students decorating their character journals and working on their lessons.
Students will work on CKH lessons each Monday, so make sure you ask your student about it at home. 💗

August Community Service - Donations to the Michael DeBakey Hospital for Veterans. This year they don't want travel-sized items but the average-sized product. El Campo FFA would appreciate your help in donating to this organization. We will be collecting items at the August meeting.


NHS and Student Council are partnering to host the first blood drive of the school year in honor of Amelia Lyford. Donors must be at least 16 years old. The drive will be on Wednesday, August 28 in the ECHS practice gym from 9am-3pm. Amelia continues to progress in her courageous battle with leukemia and makes more memories with her family and friends because of HEROS like YOU. Amelia has received multiple transfusions at Texas Children's Hospital as part of her treatment. Mrs. Lyford, one of our teachers, and Amelia's family encourage you to join us through your Commit for Life donation to make a difference for patients.
