Ms. Rodriguez and Mrs. Harton’s second-grade classes wrote persuasive speeches on whether the War Hawks should declare war on the British or why merchants opposed it. Ms. Rodriguez’s class outlined reasons for war, while Mrs. Harton’s class presented arguments against it. After sharing speeches with paired students from the opposite class, they took a vote to see if opinions changed, resulting in some students switching sides!
