REMINDER: Students kick off Winter Break with an early release on Wednesday, December 20th. Winter break is December 21 - January 7. Classes resume January 8th.

Congratulations to the ECHS Student Council on winning the "People's Choice" and "Best School Organization" awards at the Blessing Cup's Trim-A-Tree event!




The Northside Library sponsored a Book Character Christmas Ornament contest where the students created ornaments to represent book characters. Awards were given for numerous categories. Bria C. won Best of Show for her creation of On Account of the Gum, and Mia V. won Student Choice for Stitch. All winners chose a book from the book vending machine.

Ms. Dorris at Northside had guest reader, Kathy Smith, visit her class and read different versions of “Twas the Night Before Christmas”. The kids were all ears, comparing and contrasting the tales. To wrap it up, the students went full-on author mode, crafting their very own version of the story!

ECMS students enjoyed “Finding the Elf” and Holiday Bingo during lunch!









High school teachers got into the Christmas spirit with a Christmas sock exchange!

ECMS teachers were treated to a hot chocolate bar with “Holiday Wishes and Hot Chocolate Kisses”


3rd graders loved the performance by the high school and middle school choirs. They even sang along!!

Mrs. Hopper's A&P (for Health Science Careers ) class has been learning about the scientific method. The students had a fun and tasty experience performing a Skittles lab.
Skittles in A&P you might ask? Why yes! Before we focus on body systems we learn about other parts of science. Students enjoyed sorting the Skittles, answering pre-lab questions, creating a hypothesis, and collecting data to figure out percentages.




Don't these Twinkies look delicious? ECHS Culinary 1 students in Mrs. Poenitzsch and Mrs. Harp’s classes have been studying the principles of plating and presentation. The students were given two Twinkies, dessert sauces, and other ingredients to create an attractive and appealing plate. Mrs. Ener's class earned a popcorn party for returning their books every Friday during October and November. They ate popcorn and enjoyed a movie!





During their recent field trip to the George Ranch, 7th grade students experienced multiple generations of Texas history. They were able to see real-life cowboys roping calves, walk inside Victorian mansions with guidance from reenactors, and see what life was like in an 1830s log cabin.
The students' exemplary behavior was acknowledged by the Ranch Staff. They represented El Campo with distinction and took home unforgettable memories!











Come out to the Ricebird Band Winter Concert! Tuesday, December 12th at 7 PM in the ECHS auditorium.

⚽ Soccer is back! Ricebirds have a scrimmage with Katy tonight at Ricebird Stadium. JV plays at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:15.

A huge thank you to the El Campo Rotary Club for giving us the opportunity to take some of our players and coaches to attend the annual Lombardi Trophy banquet in Houston this week! What a special experience for our young men! - Ricebird Football


Mrs. Kacer's Health Science Theory class finished up their unit on safety and would like to thank the El Campo Volunteer Fire Department for instruction and a demonstration on proper fire extinguisher use. The students enjoyed getting to practice using the extinguisher.
