HOSA hosted a blood drive on Thursday, November 7th in honor of Amelia Lyford and the turnout was CRAZY!!!
With 140 pre-registered donors the blood center sent extra staff but it still wasn't enough! Donors and staff were determined to collect as much as possible though, so donors waited and staff stayed until 5 pm even though it was supposed to end at 3:00. When all was said and done, we had 87 whole blood units, 24 Apheresis units (doubles), and that's with 21 deferrals, over ten people not being able to wait, and cutting off donors coming in at 3:00 pm. This totals out to 135 units of blood which is the most they've collected from us since February of 2012!!!
Thank you so much to all donors and we wish Amelia the best on her road to recovery!

We are celebrating our School Psychologists this week!
School psychologists provide direct support and interventions to students; consult with teachers, families, and other school-employed mental health professionals (i.e., school counselors, school social workers) to improve support strategies; work with school administrators to improve school-wide practices and policies; and collaborate with community providers to coordinate needed services. We are so appreciative to the ladies who work for El Campo ISD.

El Campo ISD honored our heroic Veterans with a spectacular parade! Students decorated the streets with vibrant signs and flags, expressing their gratitude in a truly special way! First-year floral students had the opportunity to truly celebrate fall with their mum flowers and pumpkin containers. They had fun cleaning their pie-sized pumpkins—many had never done this before—to create their unique containers.

Our little Ricebirds loved their first RIF party of the school year!
RIF (Reading is Fundamental) is put on by El Campo’s Sesame Club. These wonderful ladies put on a presentation of the story, "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type" by Doreen Cronin. Students also reviewed personification, which means animals are given human characteristics, actions, or emotions in a story.
To complete the party, students were given a book to keep for their home library! Thanks Sesame Club of EC!

A&M Kingsville is commemorating its 100th anniversary and visited ECHS to honor Senior Allison Vallejo as one of the first 100 students admitted!
