Ms. Rawlinson’s class had a visit from a fun friend this week. Thank you, Ms. Kassie Cerny, for taking time out of your day to bring your new family member, Ragnar.
Students learned that Ragnar is a bearded dragon that usually originates from Australia. They also learned about what it takes to care for Ragnar. The class finished with a fun science page on living and nonliving things.

Congratulations to Hutchins students for reaching their first goal of collecting 500 eggs in the basket. Eggs are given to students when they demonstrate excellent character traits. They earned a school-wide dance party and had a blast learning the Bunny Hop Slide! School districts do not receive state funding for building schools or making major renovations and instead must use voter-approved bonds which help pay for large projects that get paid back over time, like a mortgage.
School districts in Texas have two budgets. Maintenance & Operations (M&O) funds pay for day-to-day operations. Interest & Sinking (I&S) funds pay for capital improvements. Funding for each budget is primarily provided by local tax dollars from property values calculated by pennies collected per $100 of property value.

El Campo ISD’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) facilities are outdated, with undersized classrooms that limit capacity. CTE participation has grown by 9% over the last three years, with enrollment expected to continue increasing.
Currently, ECISD offers 10 programs of study, four dual credit CTE courses, and 12 industry-based certifications that prepare students for in-demand careers.
Proposition A would expand and renovate CTE facilities to accommodate the growing enrollment in welding, carpentry, auto tech, and cosmetology programs.

Proposition A includes fire protection at Hutchins Elementary and also connects buildings at the high school and at Hutchins for safety and security purposes.
