Older buildings with outdated HVAC systems, insulation, lighting, and windows contribute to higher energy costs. Last year, ECISD spent $110,000 on maintenance and HVAC installation. Hutchins 3rd graders strutted down memory lane to show off in front of their 2nd-grade teachers that they're geared up to ROCK the STAAR! 🐝The 5 third graders participated in the WCYF spelling bee. Marvin Maples, 2nd from left, placed 3rd in the event.
And, the three girls pictured did El Campo Middle School proud! Savanah Northington made it to the 4th round, Harper Hubenak finished in the top 7, and Brooklynn Kacer (center) placed 2nd overall.

El Campo High School, with original construction from 1953, consists of 14 separate buildings that are not connected to each other. Students move between classes by walking outside, often exposed to rain and weather conditions. More than 50% of classrooms are undersized and do not meet TEA standards.
