Ms. Nafegar's 2nd grade class spent time learning about Ancient Greek Civilizations whose contributions can be seen in many areas of our lives today. Ms. Nafegar even dressed as a Greek Goddess to engage her students and get them excited about learning!
On the screen behind Ms. Nafegar, Pheidippides is beginning his run to Sparta to fight for the Athenian generals. The boys in the class are pretending to hold their spears since 7 year olds were of age to go to war. The girls in class were wiping their tears because they were sad that all the men and boys were leaving to go to war. These students are stretching their brains and learning so much this school year!

Advanced floral design students spent the day delivering homecoming mums and garters to Life Skills students at Myatt, Hutchins, Northside, Middle School, and High School campuses. 200 first year floral design students in Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Zahn’s classes constructed a 19 foot mega mum in honor of homecoming week. A special thanks to the Ag Mech students for cutting the 4ft plywood circle to make the top, the Derby Dolls for the pom poms, and Mr. Jeff Balcar and crew for getting it hung in the gym and then moving it to the football field for the game. Meanwhile, at Northside, Mrs. Taylor’s 4th graders dove into a Homecoming Escape Room adventure! They read passages and tackled questions like pros to break free. And let me tell you, they had a blast glowing under those black lights!

Cindy Lou Who from The Grinch (Mrs. Seaman) was a welcomed surprise by third grade students at Hutchins Elementary!
And at Northside, Ms. Russell's class donned their favorite Holiday attire!
After finishing the classic tale Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Ms. Molina's 3rd graders teamed up to analyze the characters and present their ideas to the class!
Ms.Treumer at Hutchins got some friends to sponsor her class to receive a new book each month this school year. The kids received their first book last week thanks to this month's sponsor, Terry Rab, a paraprofessional at Hutchins.
The students were so very excited to be able to take a book of their very own home to keep. They will now use this opportunity to learn about writing Thank You notes by sending one to the sponsor each month.

Pre-sale tickets for students are $4 and $6 for adults.
Tickets will be $8 per person cash only at the gate.

Fridays are fun Friday in Mrs. Weathers' classroom at Hutchins! After doing normal stations and lessons, they gathered with Mrs. Shumbera's class and made brownies to enjoy as an afternoon snack.
They also celebrated earning Stinky Feet by wearing house shoes, crazy socks, or just no shoes.

Mrs. Weathers' class at Hutchins learned about States of Matter ( Liquid, Solid, Gas) by playing with ice cubes that were frozen (Solid State) and then melted into water (Liquid State).
The kids enjoyed playing with the ice and watching it melt in their hands!
Hutchins staff survived Friday the 13th with the help of a salty snack from the Woot Woot Wagon!! Hutchins Ricebirds made it a GREAT day!
