Calendar Reminder: This Friday, December 19th, is an early release day. Students will then have Winter Break from December 22nd to January 6th. Following the break, staff will return to work on Monday, January 5th, for 2 days of professional development. Students will return to the classrooms on Wednesday, January 7th.

Mrs. Guthrie's Class STEM Challenge - On Friday, students in Mrs. Guthrie's classes competed in a STEM activity. In teams, they were tasked with constructing the tallest tower possible using 20 popsicle sticks and a length of masking tape.

We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this morning's situation involving local and federal law enforcement in the neighborhood near Hutchins Elementary. Both the high school and Hutchins have returned to a normalized routine, with the knowledge to remain vigilant about the situation on Roberts. We have spoken with law enforcement, and they have the situation contained to a home. We are confident in our police department, and I have confidence in our district and campus administration and our entire staff, who are working diligently and successfully to keep your children safe and secure.

El Campo ISD is cooperating with the El Campo Police Department, and at this time, all students are safe and secure on our campuses. It is our understanding that federal law enforcement, with the cooperation of local law enforcement, has an individual barricaded within a home on Roberts Street. Because of the proximity to Hutchins Elementary and the high school, and out of an abundance of caution, we are keeping the students contained in the building. The high school students and the parents attending the pep rally are safely contained within the gymnasium. The schools remain on Lockout at this time. 

We will provide updates as they become available from local law enforcement. I want to reiterate that there is a significant police presence on Robert’s Street and the situation is contained. El Campo ISD’s response is adding a layer of safety for our students.
