The El Campo ISD Board of Trustees met for their regular monthly session to celebrate student spirit and tackle a wide-ranging agenda focused on academic improvement and modernized district operations.

Celebrating School Spirit and "Remarkable Ricebirds"

The El Campo High School Cheerleaders were honored for their historic achievement of placing third in the nation at the country’s largest national championship in January. This marks the highest rank an El Campo team has ever achieved at this competition. Additionally, five seniors were named to the 2025-2026 Academic All-State Cheer Team, and Addison Tompkins was named All-State Cheerleader.

The board recognized three staff members for going above and beyond their duties:

Kendra Janik (Myatt Elementary): Praised for her inclusive Pre-K classroom.

Liz Conrad (Hutchins Elementary): Recognized as the "specials scheduling guru", for building exceptional relationships with students in PE, and for organizing staff social events to boost morale.

Brock Larson (El Campo High School): Commended for his classroom engagement and for leading the girls' basketball team to a historic playoff run.

Key District Reports & Approvals

Special Education Growth: The district’s first annual Special Education report revealed a 40% increase in the number of students receiving services since the 2021-2022 school year. Currently, 581 students (17.94% of the population) are served.

Communication Upgrade: The board approved a $33,000 contract for ParentSquare, a new platform that will unify the district's website and parent communication into a single app.
