ECHS FCCLA brought home the STATE CHAMPION title in the Culinary Arts and Toys the Teach Events!

In the Culinary Arts event, Senior Juliann Little took top honors and walked away with a chef knife kit and thousands of dollars in culinary school scholarship money.  She will represent Texas competing against the best high school culinary students in the nation at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in Seattle this June!

ECHS Culinary also rocked the Cupcake Presentation Event. Taking 3rd place was Senior Sofia Medina, and 5th place was Senior Linda Martinez!

In the Texas Toys that Teach contest, Senior Andrea Sanchez took top honors with 1st place, followed by the 2nd place team of Junior Val Gutierrez and Senior Lizzie Flota, and 5th place team of Seniors Julisa Padron and Alma Rosales.

To get to the State competition, these FCCLA students must first get through Regionals were they compete against all sizes of schools, a lot being Houston 5A and 6A schools. Then, the winners from each region come together and compete at State. Unlike Culinary Arts, the Toys the Teach category does not move on to Nationals.
